Graham Gano injury update: Latest news on Giants kicker’s status in Week 3 game

The New York Giants had an injury concern with kicker Graham Gano before they even took the field for the Week 3 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Gano was spotted walking into the locker room before kickoff after apparently coming down with a groin injury during pre-game warm-ups.

Now, the Giants are in a precarious spot if they don’t have their kicker, as Gano is the only one on the team’s roster.

We would assume punter Jamie Gillan will take over kicking duties if Gano doesn’t play. Gillan has attempted two field goals during his career, making one of them.

However, he hasn’t kicked a field goal since 2023, which he made from 40 yards out. He missed his other attempt while with the Cleveland Browns in 2020.

Follow along below for all of the latest updates on Gano’s status as the Giants take on the Chiefs on Sunday night.

UPDATE: Gano is now sitting on the bench and talking to a trainer. Meanwhile, Gillan was taking practice kicks into the net.

The Giants decided to go for it on fourth down on their first drive despite being in field goal range, so it looks like Gano might not play after all. We’ll continue to keep an eye out for another update.

UPDATE: Good news, as Gano has returned to the field and is kicking into the net to warm up again. It looks like he’ll give it a go.

According to Dan Duggan of The Athletic, Gano is questionable to play on Sunday night with a groin injury.
