Jack Eichel might be looking at a huge payday sooner rather than later.
The Vegas Golden Knights superstar center is entering the final season of his contract.
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reports that talks are underway between Vegas and Eichel, and that he’s expected to get more than Mitch Marner just did in his sign-and-trade from Toronto.
Marner got an eight-year deal worth $12 million per year. That means Eichel could be looking at $13 million or so per year, which would push him up to $104 million in total value, with potential for the contract to come in at an even higher number.

Eichel is part of a potential 2026 free agent class filled with stars and led by superstar Connor McDavid. There’s the potential for a drama-filled season ahead if some of these extensions aren’t signed.
But it sounds like at least in Vegas, Eichel could be heading toward a deal. It’d be the right move for the Golden Knights, who would lock up Eichel alongside Marner for a hoped-for long run of success side by side.
And yeah, Eichel probably wouldn’t mind a nine-figure deal, either.
