The biennial CONCACAF continental championship sees Mexico defend their Gold Cup title at the 2025 tournament held largely across the western portion of the United States.
Only once in the tournament’s history has someone other than USA or El Tri won the title. That was when Canada won in 2000.
This year, the tournament serves as an important line of demarcation for 2026 FIFA World Cup hosts USA, Canada, and Mexico as it presents the final competitive action for all three teams until next summer’s main event. The three hosts do not compete in qualifying, meaning they do not have any more matches with competitive stakes until the 2026 competition begins.

Gold Cup 2025 bracket: Full schedule for knockout stage
The CONCACAF Gold Cup knockout stage matches up winners and runners-up from particular groups to keep teams from rematching until the final.
Locations, times, and dates for the quarterfinals and semifinals will be determined once the matchups are set and CONCACAF can determine when and where is best for all teams to compete.
Quarterfinals
Quarterfinal games will see Group A and Group D pit their winners against their runners-up, while Groups B and C will also pair up.
