There may be a new dominant family in the basketball world.
The 2025 McDonald’s All American Game will feature five-star guard Alijah Arenas, son of three-time NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas. Alijah is following in the footsteps of his dad, mom and an older sibling.
To say the Arenas family is rooted in basketball would be an understatement, as Alijah’s older sister recently finished her freshman season at the Division I level, and two of his younger siblings are following behind him as up-and-coming basketball talents.

A closer look at the family tree shows that the Arenas kids don’t just get their basketball talents from their dad. Here’s a look at Gilbert Arenas’ children and the sources of some of their basketball roots.
Gilbert Arenas family tree
Gilbert Arenas’ ex-fiancée: Laura Govan
Some of the Arenas children’s basketball abilities can be attributed to their mother, Laura Govan, who played collegiately at New Mexico from 1999 to 2001.
Govan and Arenas were together from 2002-2014 and were engaged but never wed. The two are parents of four children together: Daughters Izela and Hamiley and sons Alijah and Aloni.
Gilbert Arenas’ daughter: Izela Arenas
Born on Dec. 24, 2006, Izela Arenas is the oldest child in the family.
After starring at Sierra Canyon High School in Chatsworth, California, Izela was graded as a four-star recruit in the high school class of 2024. She spent her freshman season at the University of Louisville, averaging 4.2 points over 29 games before entering the NCAA transfer portal.
Gilbert Arenas’ son: Alijah Arenas
Alijah Arenas was born in March 2007 and is the second-oldest of the group.
Alijah is a five-star recruit out of Chatsworth High School in Chatsworth, California, and he reclassified to the class of 2025 to expedite his process of playing in college and, potentially, declaring for the NBA Draft. Alijah is a 6-foot-6 guard and chose USC over a host of other scholarship offers.

Gilbert Arenas’ daughter: Hamiley Arenas
Hamiley Arenas, 14, is next up in the basketball family.
Hamiley just finished her freshman season at Notre Dame High School in Los Angeles. She’s already made a name for herself as one of the top recruits in the class of 2028 and is in line to become much more prominent as she continues her basketball journey.
Gilbert Arenas’ son: Aloni Arenas
It’s early, but Arenas’ youngest son, Aloni, is already considered among the top recruits in the class of 2030.
Aloni is currently slated to enroll in high school in 2026, but he has already made headlines with some of his highlights and his resemblance on the court to his older brother, Alijah.

Gilbert Arenas’ daughter: Gia Arenas
Arenas’ youngest daughter is with ex-partner Lindsay Faulk.
Unlike her older siblings, Gia is not pursuing basketball but has rather found some success in cheerleading, according to her Instagram.
