The New York Giants didn’t do themselves any favors last week in terms of their position in the 2025 NFL Draft.
With a shocking 45-33 with over the Indianapolis Colts at home — their first of the season at MetLife Stadium — the Giants now hold the No. 4 overall pick in the draft.
There’s still a chance they land the No. 1 pick, but it would take a lot of unlikely help to get there. Being outside the top three makes it very questionable whether the Giants will be able to land a potential franchise quarterback.
However, in the latest mock draft from Josh Edwards of CBS Sports, they were still able to land Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders with the fourth pick.
“Quarterbacks are always pushed higher in the draft order, but neither Ward nor Shedeur Sanders is a prospect who has to be taken in the top-5 overall. In this scenario, the Titans went a different route because they were not enamored with their options. New York still gets Sanders, but a few picks later,” Edwards wrote.
In this scenario, the Tennessee Titans (No. 2 overall), selected Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan after hypothetically signing Sam Darnold in free agency.
That left the Cleveland Browns (No. 3 overall) to take Miami quarterback Cam Ward ahead of the Giants.
Sanders has been linked to the Giants for the better part of the season and that’s not going to stop just because the Giants don’t own the No. 1 pick anymore.
The offseason should be another one filled with speculation, but this won’t be the final time Sanders and the Giants are linked.
