Giants’ Jaxson Dart gets surprising starting prediction from NFL insider

The New York Giants see the future with Jaxson Dart under center.

Taking the Ole Miss product with the No. 25 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, following a trade-up with the Houston Texans, the Giants finally have a direction at the game’s most important position.

When Dart will take over remains a mystery, especially considering both general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll are on the hot seat before the season even begins.

With that said, Connor Hughes of SNY believes Dart’s starting date could be sooner rather than later.

“Uncertainty with head coach Brain Daboll and his job status clouds this. The play of Wilson and Jameis Winston won’t bring him back in 2026. What will: His hand-picked quarterback showing signs he can be a franchise signal-caller. I could see Daboll going to Dart even earlier than Week 10 if he feels his job is on the line,” Hughes wrote.

The additions of Wilson and Winston certainly make it difficult to truly project when Dart will make his debut. On top of that, Dart’s profile as a prospect who needs to develop could extend his time lower on the depth chart.

Given the fact that he was selected in the first round, there’s a better chance than not that Dart will see the field at some point during his rookie campaign.

Whether that will be able to save Daboll’s job as the head coach isn’t clear, but the NFL is always full of surprises.
