Giants could cap off offseason by signing $6.6 million slugger

The San Francisco Giants made a splash by signing Willy Adames this offseason. They lost Blake Snell and failed to sign Corbin Burnes. However, they could make one final splash and sign a veteran slugger.

The Giants gave Willy Adames the largest deal in franchise history. Their next move may not be that big, but could certainly help their team in 2025. Just Baseball’s Clay Snowden named the Giants as a potential landing spot for Randal Grichuk.

“After signing Willy Adames and Justin Verlander, the Giants need to turn their attention toward the final pieces of their lineup,” wrote Snowden. “They could look to upgrade second base and move Tyler Fitzgerald into a utility role, but a need in the outfield would still be there. Yastrzemski could use a higher-level righty bat to join him in a platoon, and Grichuk could be just that.”

Grichuk is going into his 12th season as a big leaguer. He has 203 career home runs and hit 12 home runs last season in 106 games. He had a .291/.348/.528 slash line. The veteran outfielder played in 57 games defensively and appeared as the designated hitter in 41. Spotrac projects him to earn a two-year, $6.6 million deal in free agency.

He has a career .768 OPS and had the second-best single-season OPS of his career last year. He can still provide solid power at the plate and could be an under-the-radar addition for Buster Posey and the Giants.
