The San Francisco Giants have one former catcher running the show.
And Buster Posey might hire another former catcher to take over in the dugout.
Bob Melvin is out, and the Giants need a new manager.
And now they have interviewed Nick Hundley for the position, according to beat writer Susan Slusser.
Hundley caught in the majors for 12 seasons.
Two of his MLB seasons were with the Giants. He was Posey’s backup in 2017 and 2018.

Posey is the Giants’ president of baseball operations now.
Hundley retired in 2020 and began working as a senior director of baseball operations in the commissioner’s office.
After that, he became a special assistant to the Rangers’ president of baseball operations, Chris Young.
The Giants had already looked into Hundley a couple seasons ago when they were replacing Gabe Kapler.
San Francisco seems to have a type, because they’ve also reportedly interviewed Kurt Suzuki, the former All-Star catcher for the Athletics.
Whoever the Giants pick will have the task of lifting up a talented bunch that underachieved in 2025. There could be a big season ahead in 2026 if the right choice is made in the manager position.
