Giants’ 3-time World Series champ finally on verge of retirement

The San Francisco Giants’ teams of 2010, 2012 and 2014 will live forever.

Three times in five years, with the fun alternating pattern, they were World Series champions.

The leader of that group is close to the end of the line. Manager Bruce Bochy, now with the Rangers, may call it quits soon.

The Athletic’s Jim Bowden expects this to be the last season for Bochy before retirement.

“There is a lot of buzz in the industry that Braves manager Brian Snitker and Rangers manager Bruce Bochy could retire at season’s end, which would be a big loss for the sport,” Bowden wrote. “Both are classy people with impressive track records who have been great for the game.”

Bochy began his managerial career with the Padres, going 951-975 over 12 seasons.

Then he joined the Giants for 13 years, going 1,052-1,054 with the three World Series titles.

He took over the Rangers in 2023 and immediately won the World Series there, too.

Bochy has a 57-37 career record in the playoffs.

At 70 years old, it makes sense that Bochy might be done sooner rather than later.

If this is it for him, it’s already been one of the best October careers in MLB manager history, and most of that legacy resides in the Bay Area.
