Germany vs. Italy lineups, predicted starting 11, team news

Borussia Monchengladbach striker Tim Kleindienst has been in fine form this season, scoring 15 goals in 25 Bundesliga appearances.

Injuries to the likes of Kai Havertz and Niclas Fullkrug have presented Kleindienst with an opportunity at international level, and his first-leg equaliser is his third in five appearances for Die Mannschaft. Nagelsmann will be tempted to put him in from the start, meaning Mainz favourite Jonathan Burkardt would make way.

Leon Goretzka scored on his return to the Germany fold and is likely to start alongside Borussia Dortmund’s Pascal Gross in central midfield on his home ground. Karim Adeyemi and Maximilian Mittelstadt may also come in to freshen up the left flank.

Germany predicted lineup (4-2-3-1, right to left): Baumann (GK) — Kimmich, Rudiger, Schlotterbeck, Mittelstadt — Gross, Goretzka — Sane, Musiala, Adeyemi — Kleindienst
