Bayern Munich’s run in the FIFA Club World Cup was ended on July 5 following their 2-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the quarterfinals at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
However, the biggest talking point of the game focused on Jamal Musiala’s horrific injury, with the winger stretchered off the pitch with tears.
The German star suffered a broken fibula and ankle ligament damage following a collision with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma in the first half.
Bayern Munich have since issue an officially confirmation that Musiala will need surgery and he’s expected to remain out of action for 4-5 months.
The most unfortunate part in all of this is that the 22-year-old just returned from a muscle injury, and the game against PSG was his first start in the USA.
The entire football family has sent Musiala good wishes and motivation to bounce back from this injury.

Germany national team head coach Julian Nagelsmann became the latest voice to provide mora support to the 22-year-old.
“Jamal’s injury is a huge shock for all of us – after he had only just fought his way back to the pitch following his muscle injury. Our thoughts are with him. Jamal can rely on the support of all of us in the national team. We wish him the best for his surgery and a good and speedy recovery. That’s the most important thing right now,” Nagelsmann said.
What does injury mean for Musiala’s World Cup dreams?
Musiala is not expected to miss all the international fixtures for Germany this year, but he will miss the entirety of their World Cup qualification campaign.
The Bayern Munich star is one of the key players in Nagelsmann’s squad, and it will be a challenge for the coach and players to get over the line in his absence.
Missing so many games in the lead up to next year’s FIFA World Cup is a concern for Musiala, who is key to Germany’s chances of lifting the crown n North America.
He will hope to return to action at the end of this year and get some matches under his belt ahead of the build-up to the quadrennial event.
Fans have high hopes from the German duo of Musiala and Florian Wirtz, but unfortunately, the two players haven’t played together this year due to injuries.
Nagelsmann’s primary concern will be to seal qualification for next year’s showpiece event scheduled to take place in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
