The Las Vegas Raiders recently addressed their pressing need for a quarterback, as the team acquired Geno Smith from the Seattle Seahawks for a 2025 third-round pick, which is slated at No.92 overall.
Smith is one of the better pocket passers in football and revived his career in Seattle. The 34-year-old posted a winning record in all three seasons as the Seahawks’ starting quarterback from 2022 to 2024 and also won the AP Comeback Player of the Year award in 2022.
Though adding Smith fixes the Raiders’ quarterback problems in the short term, the franchise still doesn’t have a long-term solution at the sport’s most vital position.
The franchise is unlikely to use a premium draft choice on a quarterback in April’s draft, but a recent photo of Smith and former Colorado signal-caller Shedeur Sanders has sparked rumors about Las Vegas potentially taking Sanders with the No.6 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
On Sunday, Sanders posted a picture of him and Smith to his Instagram story with the caption “Legendary.”

Sanders is one of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 class and a projected first-round pick. The 23-year-old could be available when the Raiders are on the clock at pick six, and it seems like he has a close relationship with Smith.
Selecting Sanders and having him learn behind Smith for a few years may be Las Vegas’ plan to have an answer for the short-term and long-term at quarterback. However, it’s hard to see the Raiders taking a signal-caller at No.6 overall, and this photo likely has nothing to do with the Raiders’ draft plans in April.
