Gary Neville shares his verdict on Manchester United target Bryan Mbuemo

Manchester United have accelerated their activity in the summer transfer window as they are desperate to add quality to their roster after finishing 16th in the Premier League points table.

The Red Devils have already signed Wolves’ versatile forward Matheus Cunha and are now reportedly close to agreeing terms with Brentford’s Bryan Mbuemo. The Cameroonian has reportedly snubbed Arsenal, Newcastle United and others with his decision to join United this summer.

Former Manchester United defender and football pundit Gary Neville has given his vote of confidence to the team management to go ahead with the signing of Mbuemo. The 50-year-old feels that the Premier League experience of the new signings will help them settle at United quickly.

‘They need players who are going to come in and hit the ground running,” Neville shared his thoughts on Manchester United’s new signings on Sky Sports.

United has become a very difficult place for new signings to operate in recent years. Cunha and Mbeumo have Premier League experience, they’ve got plenty of games under their belts, it’s not new to them.

‘They’re the right type as well because when I watch the United wide players under Ruben Amorim, they have to get from box-to-box quickly and travel with and without the ball quickly.

‘Cunha and Mbeumo both do that. The players who are going to leave United are more jinkers and play in smaller spaces.

‘Amorim likes having those two players behind the striker, and if those two are Cunha and Mbeumo then United will at least be able to travel quickly because they can both run and they’re both direct.

‘It’s important that Manchester United have that. They need players in those positions because it looks like Rashford, Sancho, Antony, and Garnacho are going to leave.”

How much could Brentford ask for Mbuemo?

Brentford reportedly have slapped a price tag in the region of £ 40-50 million. Since the player has made up his mind, now the clubs will hold talks and aim to reach an agreement as soon as possible.

They are powerless in his situation as his current contract runs out next year, and this is the only opportunity for them to earn big. The 25-year-old is coming off his best Premier League campaign, where he scored 20 goals and provided seven assists.

However, fresh reports from Telegraph Football suggest that the Bees are ready to play hardball for the versatile forward. Now, they may ask United to dish out a transfer fee in the region of £60 million.

The Red Devils continue to remain confident with the pursuit of Mbuemo, but they may have to pay a little more transfer fee now than they were anticipating earlier.
