Bayern Munich are all set for a massive overhaul in the summer transfer window. Manager Vincent Kompany will be keen to strengthen his team with multiple incomings.
Recently, in an interview, Bayern Munich legend Franck Ribery dropped a significant talking point when he urged his former club to make the move for Bayer Leverkusen starlet Florian Wirtz.
The German international is one of the most highly rated players in Europe and therefore clubs like Manchester City and Arsenal are in the race for his signature.
But the Frenchman has urged his former team to try and convince the 21-year-old starlet to stay in the Bundesliga.
‘If there’s any possibility, Bayern must sign Florian Wirtz,’ Ribery told German outlet BILD.

Ribery highlighted how adding Wirtz to Bayern’s lineup will also help Musiala because of their exceptional understanding. We have seen glimpses of these two youngsters combining when they turn up for Germany.
‘Musiala and Wirtz can play very well together in a team. They’re alike because they both have incredible talent,” Ribery pointed out.
‘But they’re not alike in their playing style. Good footballers always get along on the pitch. Maybe FC Bayern should adjust their system a bit, away from the traditional wingers,” the former winger continued.

Florian Wirtz transfer fees, contract situation, stats
The Leverkusen No. 10 is on the radar of several top European clubs. However, the reigning Bundesliga champions are looking to tie him down with a new contract.
Die Werkself have reportedly included a release clause of €125 million (£104.3m) which will be active from the summer of 2026. His current contract runs till June 2027, and even if he doesn’t sign a new contract, Leverkusen values him at around €150 million.
Wirtz joined Leverkusen’s youth team back in 2010, and since then, he has been with the club. He guided them to their first-ever Bundesliga crown last season while individually securing the honor of Bundesliga Player of the Season.
The 21-year-old has racked up 56 goals and 63 assists in 191 games for Leverkusen in all competitions. Wirtz has scored 15 goals this season, nine of them have come in the 2024/25 Bundesliga.
The young German is extremely talented with his intricate dribbling ability and peripheral vision. His positioning and attacking instincts are also laudable.
Therefore, he will strengthen wherever he lands in the upcoming summer transfer window.
