Former Warriors teammate reveals Stephen Curry’s shocking halftime habit

The Golden State Warriors have seen a lot of “Curry Flurries”. The phenomenon happens when Stephen Curry goes to whatever place basketball legends go to, and drops 7-10 points in a few minutes. During the peak of Golden State’s powers, these would often happen during the third quarter, leaving the Warriors up big heading into the fourth.

It’s unclear why the Warriors were so good in third quarters back then. Was it epic halftime speeches from Draymond Green or Steve Kerr? Did the other team just run out of gas trying to keep up with their motion offense? Or was it something else?

Recently, a former Warrior, Damion Lee, went on Cameron Brink and Sydel Curry Lee’s podcast Straight to Cam, and revealed one of Curry’s halftime habits that may have contributed to these third-quarter explosions.

“I was next to him in the locker room. He would type his name on Twitter at halftime… He would look at it for probably a minute or two & scroll, close his phone. Put it down & go crazy in the 2nd half.”

NBA players see what we say on Twitter. Players like Kevin Durant have made it clear that they see everything. It’s known that some guys will check their phone during games, which some old-school players find sacrilegious.

The fact that Curry is one of these guys is somewhat surprising. Curry has always carried himself above the noise. He often doesn’t take the bait when asked provocative questions and has seemingly been unaffected by media narratives.

Now, however, we know that Curry sees it all. He was using the haters to fuel him while he dominated the league. While it may not be how we usually think of Curry, it makes sense.
