The Golden State Warriors of the late mid-to-late 2010s and also in 2022 were one of the most surefire examples of a pure dynasty in sports.
With the combination of two-time MVP point guard Stephen Curry, shooting guard Klay Thompson, power forward Draymond Green, and even small forward Kevin Durant for a few years, the team just never stopped winning, making it to five consecutive NBA Finals at one point.
But according to Thompson, even when they were on top, things were still dicey within the team.
“We Just Want To Win”
On Michael Cooper’s “Showtime With Michael Cooper” podcast, Thompson spoke of some differences he and the other stars on the team had, and even some with head coach Steve Kerr.
“For us, there have been a lot of scuffles, there have been a lot of bad words said and feelings hurt. But at the end of the day, we know we just want to win. When you raise a banner, you can look past all the stuff you went through as brothers,” Thompson said.
Thompson also spoke of their maturity and ability to leave it on the court and focus on the common goal.
“There were times there would be friction between Draymond and I or Steph and I or Coach and I,” said Thompson. “It is just part of it. And you grow from it. You’re man enough to leave that on the court and be professional about it.”
Fast forward to now, and Thompson is now with the Dallas Mavericks, and Curry and Green are still in The Bay, hoping to grab their fifth title together before Father Time tells them to hang up their sneakers.
