The Houston Rockets are sitting at the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference, as they’ve defied most expectations heading into the season.
However, the squad is still fairly young, which makes some question whether Houston is ready to make a deep playoff run. If the Rockets come up short, they could trade some of their young players and future draft picks to bring in former Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant in a deal featuring the Phoenix Suns, San Antonio Spurs, and Charlotte Hornets, proposed by Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus.
Here’s how a trade could look:
Spurs get:
- Devin Booker (from Suns)
- Josh Okogie (from Hornets)
- Jae’Sean Tate (from Rockets)
- Jeff Green (from Rockets)
- $5 million trade exception (Malaki Branham)

Durant played for the Thunder franchise from 2007 to 2016, leading them to the NBA Finals in 2012 and winning MVP in 2014. The 15-time All-Star has proven he can blend into any situation, which would make him an excellent fit next to Amen Thompson, Alperen Sengun, and Jalen Green on both sides of the floor.
However, Durant will be 37 years old at the start of next season, so there’ll be a ton of pressure on the Rockets to win it all as soon as possible before Father Time catches up to Durant.
