Former teammate shares shocking story on Lakers’ star Lebron James’ recovery process

LeBron James will become the first player in NBA history to play 23 seasons when he steps foot on the court to begin 2025-26. The league’s all-time leading scorer has drawn plenty of praise for his longevity, which has been attributed to how well he takes care of his body.

Mario Chalmers, who spent four seasons as teammates with James on the Miami Heat, appeared on the “Nightcap” podcast where he shared a shocking story of the lengths that the four-time MVP went to recover after games.

“I tell people this all the time,” Mario Chalmers stated Thursday. “Bron would really get treatment if we was in the club. Like, he would literally have something on his knees or something on his back inside the club. So, it’s like once somebody is doing that, that’s a real dedication to just be in the club with treatment… Not ice bags, it would be like the stim machine where it’s shooting electrolytes or electricity in your knees, stuff like that. Hamstrings, lower back, he always got something that’s making his body recover. So, that’s the thing — it’s like once you see that, that’s a different type of dedication. I had to take my hat off to that one.”

Despite turning 40 years old in 2024-25, James was named to the All-Star and All-NBA Team. Each was his 21st selection — both of which are NBA records. The four-time NBA champion averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 8.2 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.6 blocks per game while shooting 51.3% from the field, 37.6% from three-point range and 78.2% from the free-throw line.
