The college basketball season is quickly coming to an end, and in just a few days, a national champion will be crowned who is not the UConn Huskies for the first time in three years. One of the favorites in the tournament is Duke, which boasts one of the best freshmen in the country, Cooper Flagg.
Flagg has the potential to be National Player of the Year and will most likely be the first overall pick in the NBA Draft. With Flagg’s impressive NCAA Tournament run, some believe he will surpass Syracuse legend Carmelo Anthony’s run in the tournament.
“If Duke makes it to the National Championship, even if they don’t win, Cooper Flagg will, I think, surpass Carmelo Anthony for the greatest freshman NCAA Tournament appearance in the history of the Tournament,” said Mike O’Donnell.
Anthony, who has his own podcast, often discusses the state of the NBA and current events in the game. Earlier in the year, he spoke about how LeBron James is the happiest he’s ever been.
“I’ve never seen [LeBron] as happy as he looks playing the game right now. They are a lockdown defensive team right now, with Luka [Dončić]… The roles [are] reversed now. [LeBron James is Anthony Davis] right now, and Luka is him,” Anthony said.
In the legend’s latest episode, he talked about his next goal in life.

“I wanna buy the [Washington] Wizards. I would be a great owner,” Anthony explained. “Former player, I understand players, personnel, being strategic, and how to build teams.”
The Wizards have won only one NBA Finals in their history. Perhaps Anthony hopes to turn around a franchise that Washington natives have watched struggle year after year. Anthony certainly has high hopes for himself, and anything is possible. However, taking over a bottom-dwelling team in the NBA isn’t always the easiest task.
