The Dallas Cowboys are set to enter training camp with Dak Prescott, Joe Milton, and Will Grier in the quarterback room. However, one NFL analyst believes the team could target a former Pro Bowl quarterback in free agency.
Last Word on Sports’ Anthony Palacios lists the Cowboys as a potential landing spot for free agent quarterback Tyler Huntley, who last played for the Miami Dolphins in 2024.
“Huntley could be a solid third-string mentor to Milton,” Palacios wrote.
With Prescott established as the starter and Milton likely locked into the QB2 role, Huntley would be competing for a roster spot if he signed with Dallas.
Huntley was a solid backup during his time with the Baltimore Ravens from 2020 to 2023, which included a Pro Bowl selection in 2022. If the Cowboys decide to take three quarterbacks on the active roster, signing Huntley to compete with Grier for that spot would be a logical move.
Additionally, the former Raven would be a solid veteran mentor for Milton, as both players have similar skill sets, and Milton does have the potential to be the eventual replacement for Dak Prescott in Dallas.
Signing Huntley for cheap could turn out to be a savvy move from the Cowboys, though it definitely isn’t needed at this stage of the offseason.
