Jalen Brunson led the New York Knicks on their deepest postseason run in 25 years as they reached the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 1999-00. They fell short of the ultimate goal, however, as they were bounced by the Indiana Pacers in six games.
While the two-time All-Star had yet another strong postseason, questions have arisen about whether or not he can be the best player on a championship team. A six-time Pro Bowler recently claimed that Brunson can lead a team to a title, while suggesting that he has one skill that it is better than Golden State Warriors legend Stephen Curry.
“This might not be popular — because I’m a Stephen Curry fan — but I would say one-on-one, I think Brunson scores better than Steph one-on-one,” FS1’s LeSean McCoy stated Monday. “To straight get the ball, one-on-one, would you agree with that? I think he does. I think Steph’s a better player, obviously. Steph’s my favorite, but what I’m saying is when you got the right team and structure, now Steph can be Steph.”

McCoy added that Brunson has not had a team built to hide his flaws as the Warriors have done for Curry. The Knicks are expected to be active this summer as they look to make another deep run in a wide open Eastern Conference next season.
While Brunson played well in the postseason, him and Karl-Anthony Towns faced plenty of criticism for their defensive struggles. The two stars were often targeted on that end of the floor, leading to questions about their long-term fit alongside one another.
