Liverpool fans are gearing up for a nervous end to the season on and off the pitch.
The Reds saw their chances of a trophy quadruple [or a major trophy treble] ended over the weekend as Arne Slot’s side suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at EFL Championship side Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup Fourth Round.
Despite that setback, Liverpool are still top of the Premier League rankings, and they finished first in the UEFA Champions League first phase table.

However, chasing major trophies is just one of the items on Slot’s to-do list, with contract negotiations ongoing with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and club captain Virgil van Dijk.
All three are out of contract in June with Alexander-Arnold firmly on the radar of Real Madrid as a free transfer option.

With the January transfer window passing without an update, Liverpool no longer have an opportunity to bring in a transfer fee for the trio, as talks continue.
Alexander-Arnold is the only player with a concrete offer put forward by a rival club but the situation remains complicated for the England international.
Previous rumours indicated his mind was made up in 2024, following the departure of Jutgen Klopp, but Slot’s impressive start on Merseyside has changed perceptions.

Former Premier League scout and player recruitment expert Mick Brown claims the change in leadership has moved the goal posts for all involved, and the 26-year-old will make both clubs wait.
“His decision might not come until the end of the season,” he told Football Insider.
“It depends how competitive Liverpool are from now on. If they win the Premier League and challenge for the Champions League, it could convince him to stay.
“I think he’ll make them wait before he makes the decision, he won’t want to commit himself, and then have second thoughts between now and the end of the season.”
Liverpool’s ability to prove they can challenge for titles this season and beyond could confirm his decision with the defender previously uncertain over the squad’s direction in the post-Klopp era.
