Former Premier League player makes bold claim about Chelsea star

Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo has been the talk of the town since his incredible performance against Liverpool in the Premier League last week.

The Ecuador international scored a goal of the season contender to give the Blues the lead against the Reds and then put in an incredible shift to ensure that his team walked away with all three points.

Since his performance against Liverpool, a lot of fans and pundits have labelled him as the best midfielder in the league.

Now, former Tottenham Hotspur player Jamie O’Hara has joined the club by singing Caicedo’s praises.

While Caicedo is certainly one of the best players in his position in the league, O’Hara believes that he has the skillset to excel in another position as well.

O’Hara’s belief is vindicated by the fact that Caicedo has already scored three league goals so far this season, without shirking his defensive responsibilities.

Jamie O’Hara believes Moises Caicedo can succeed in an advanced role as well

Discussing Caicedo on Sky Sports, the former Tottenham Hotspur player said: “People see him as a holding midfielder, a sitting midfielder like [Claude] Makelele and players like that, but he can play higher up the pitch, he can make runs into the box to get on the end of things and he can strike a ball. For me now, Caicedo is the best midfielder in the league.”

While O’Hara is accurate in his analysis of Caicedo, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca cannot afford to give him too much attacking freedom as there is no one else in the squad who can do what Caicedo does.

Additionally, the Chelsea defence has been extremely leaky this season and they have not been helped by the number of red cards they have conceded.

Having said that, there is no harm in Caicedo scoring the odd goal, especially if it comes in the bigger games for the Blues.
