Former PL striker predicts who can replace suspended Nicolas Jackson for Chelsea vs. Man Utd

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca will have to make at least one change on Friday night when he sends his team out to face Manchester United in the Premier League.

The Italian manager will be without Nicolas Jackson after the striker picked up a red card for elbowing Sven Botman against Newcastle United on Sunday.

Maresca was so furious with Jackson that he did not acknowledge the Senegalese international as he went down the tunnel at St James Park.

And given his lack of options up front, it is understandable. Jackson was the only recognised striker Chelsea had available.

The incident means that Chelsea are left without a striker for the last two league games of the season, and Maresca will have to pick somebody to fill that void

While it is anybody’s guess who Maresca will pick to fill that void, a former Premier League striker had his say on the matter.

What Darren Bent had to say about Chelsea’s striker situation

One player Maresca could turn to on Friday is Tyrique George. George is still only 19 years of age and is a winger, but the English youngster has led the line a couple of times for Chelsea this season.

Former Premier League forward Darren Bent would not be shocked if that was the route Maresca went down.

Discussing Chelsea’s current striker situation on talkSPORT, he said: “I mean probably Tyrique George will probably be the one who goes up front if you believe he’s the right player or play a false nine, maybe [Pedro] Neto or someone.”

The only other option that Chelsea have upfront is Marc Guiu, who has given a good account of himself in the UEFA Conference League but hasn’t lit up the Premier League, so it’s unlikely that he would be picked on Friday.
