Former Mikel Arteta favourite tipped to lead Arsenal’s summer transfer exits

Arsenal are gearing up for massive changes in the upcoming summer transfer window with fans expectant over several incoming players as the North London outfit also plan to offload players to free up funds.

One such player, who is reportedly inching ever closer to exit from Emirates Stadium, is Oleksandr Zinchenko.

As per Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, the Ukraine international will be on his way out of the club this summer after being reduced to a fringe player role in 2025.

Zinchenko, who was once a crucial player in Arteta’s set up due to his ability to play across multiple positions, has fallen down the pecking order with the rise of Myles Lewis-Kelly at left-back.

With Arsenal also bringing in Riccardo Calafiori last summer, Zinchenko’s role in the current squad is questionable, as his minutes have been limited since the start of the season.

The Gunners are desperately looking to bring in young and talented players, but to do that, they need to make sales, and it seems Zinchenko may start the process this summer.

Where can Zinchenko land this summer?

The 28-year-old had offers in the January transfer window, and although Arsenal wanted to offload him, they didn’t get suitable offers.

As per the report, Zinchenko is heading for Germany with Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund ready to reignite their interest in him after falling short with an offer at the start of the calendar year.

Zinchenko joined Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022 for £32m [$43m], including bonuses and he played a vital role in the early days of Arteta’s leadership.

However, he has only featured in 20 games this season, registering a solitary goal and an assist. This is contrary to his 35 games in the 2023/24 season and 33 games in the 2022/23 campaign.

He could now restart his career in Dortmund, where he should get more game time, and will also play a bigger role in Niko Kovac’s setup.
