Michael Beasley and Lance Stephenson were both NBA standouts at different times for different reasons.
Soon, they’ll be trying to relive some of their glory days in a showdown that only makes sense in a social-media era.
Beasley and Stephenson have agreed to play a hyped-up, 1-on-1 clash on June 6. The winner will get $100,000.
Was anyone asking for this? We’re not really sure.
But it has the potential to be chippy and filled with trash talk, at the very least.

Beasley, the Heat’s No. 2 overall pick in 2008, played 11 NBA seasons and was mostly a bucket getter at his peak. He averaged 19.2 points per game in his third year, for Minnesota, and finished his NBA career putting up 12.4 points per game across his 11 seasons.
Stephenson, a New York City high school legend, went 40th overall in the 2010 NBA Draft to the Pacers. In Indiana, he made himself indispensable as the instigator for some strong teams.
As many know, Stephenson made himself even more famous by trying to get under LeBron James’ skin, even once blowing right in LeBron’s ear.
Beasley, a lefty with a size advantage on Stephenson, seems like he might hold a 1-on-1 advantage, especially considering his long-ago offensive prowess. But Stephenson seems like the type that won’t give an inch and might simply play harder in this kind of setting.
Someone’s going home with $100,000, and we’ll all have a pretty random basketball game to watch in early June, as if the NBA playoffs won’t be plenty.
