Former Chelsea star shares his worry for Estevao Willian

Estevao Willian has managed to impress fans and pundits alike since he arrived from Palmeiras in the summer.

Having joined from the Brazilian side in the last transfer window, the youngster has made an instant impression at Stamford Bridge.

The winger has two goal contributions in eight Premier League games this season, which is very promising for an 18-year-old who had not played in Europe before signing for the Club World Cup winners.

However, former Chelsea star Joe Cole is worried about the Brazilian if he continues to impress for the Blues.

Cole believes that Estevao Willian’s success could come at a price for Chelsea in the future.

Though the attacker has signed a long-term contract at Stamford Bridge, Cole is worried that consistent good performances could attract the interest of bigger clubs from all over the world.

Joe Cole’s fear for Estevao Willian

If Estevao can hit big figures during his time at Chelsea, like teammate Cole Palmer, Cole believes the Brazilian will start attracting interest from Real Madrid and others.

“What his value is now is irrelevant, as he’s signed a long-term contract at Chelsea, but if he starts putting up numbers like Cole Palmer, then the likes of Real Madrid, PSG, and Bayern Munich will start looking at him in the same way I’m sure Palmer has attracted attention when he’s fit and flying,” the ex-attacker told TNT Sports.

While Estevao Willian is on a long-term contract with Chelsea at the moment, one should not be surprised if he does express interest in making the move to Real Madrid or Barcelona in the future.

For a lot of South American players, representing Real Madrid or their Spanish rivals is a dream. The Blues may find it difficult to convince Estevao to stay if one of the two comes knocking.
