Former Chelsea star Joe Cole has given his verdict on Noni Madueke’s recent move from Chelsea to Arsenal in the ongoing summer transfer window.
In one of the more eyebrow-raising moves of the summer, Madueke left the Blues to join the Gunners, but it remains to be seen how the English international fits into Mikel Arteta’s scheme of things at the Emirates Stadium.
However, Cole believes that his compatriot will be given a key role on the left-hand side of the Arsenal attack.
Cole feels Madueke is a powerful player who can give Arsenal something a bit different after the slightly indifferent form of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard in recent times.
In a candid conversation with Hayter’s TV, Cole shared his thoughts on Madueke’s move to Arsenal and backed the youngster to succeed at his new club.

Joe Cole backs Noni Madueke transfer to be a success for Arsenal
“I think Noni’s a very, very good player. I think Mikel Arteta would’ve watched … he played games on the left at times for Chelsea and really done well. He’s powerful; he can get on the outside.”
“Martinelli missed games through injury, Trossard obviously, he scores goals, but he never really felt that he was going to kick on.”
“I think it’s a great signing for Arsenal. It improves their squad, and I think you’ll see him play a lot on the left, because he can play both flanks.”
Despite Cole’s backing, it still remains to be seen if Madueke starts for the Gunners in their second Premier League match against Leeds United on Sunday.
There is a chance that Arteta might call on the English international to replace Martinelli, who put in a poor performance against Manchester United on Sunday.
