Former Chargers GM out of a job in Las Vegas

After serving as general manager of the Los Angeles Chargers for 11 seasons, Tom Telesco has lasted just one year in the same role with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Shortly after firing head coach Antonio Pierce, the Raiders chose to give Telesco his walking papers. In his lone year as general manager, he drafted Brock Bowers in the first round and had a historic year as a rookie tight end.

The Raiders are looking to take a completely different direction, and minority owner Tom Brady will help determine that direction.

Telesco of course served as general manager of the Chargers from 2013-2023, having mixed results before being fired at the end of last season along with head coach Brandon Staley.

The Raiders are a team in disarray team headed back to the drawing board. The Chargers, now under the guidance of general manager Joe Hortiz and Jim Harbaugh, are headed in the other direction as they prepare to face the Houston Texans in the playoffs on Saturday.

Telesco found plenty of success in the draft for the Chargers, selecting Justin Herbert, Rashawn Slater, Joey Bosa, Derwin James and Keenan Allen. But he had just as many bad picks as guys like Jerry Tillery, Forrest Lamp and Jason Verrett were all pretty big draft busts.

Telesco will now have to see what his professional football future holds while the two teams he was most recently in charge of are headed in totally different directions.
