With the dust settled from the draft and free agency, Summer League is the major topic of conversation in the NBA right now. As players continue to showcase their talents for teams across the league, one former Celtics player gave his thoughts on a recent college basketball standout.
In his last three years at Gonzaga, Drew Timme shined in a featured role for the program. He opted to stay in college through his senior season where he’d average 21.2 PPG, 7.5 RPG, and 3.5 APG. Despite putting up impressive numbers for Gonzaga, Timme ended up going undrafted. Now, he’s slowly trying to climb the ranks within the Brooklyn Nets’ pipeline.
After spending last season with their G-League affiliate, Timme is suiting up for the Nets in Summer League. He is fresh off a dominant outing against the Washington Wizards, erupting for 30 points in a 102-96 loss.
In the midst of his impressive showing, Kendrick Perkins took to X to give his thoughts on Timme. He feels the former Gonzaga star is more than deserving of a rotation spot at the NBA level.
Drew Timme should be on some body roster getting quality minutes!!!! And I mean in the rotation heavy.

Before displaying his talents in Summer League, Timme put together a strong campaign for the Long Island Nets in the G-League. Across 29 appearances, he averaged 23.9 PPG, 10.2 RPG, and 4.1 APG while shooting 38.5% from beyond the arc. This led to him landing a deal with the Nets, appearing in nine games to close out last season.
As he continues to turn heads in Summer League, only time will tell if Timme will get an extended opportunity in the NBA with the Nets or elsewhere.
