The Cleveland Cavaliers are currently in their best chance to win an NBA championship since LeBron James and Kyrie Irving graced the team with their presence in the mid-2010s.
After posting a 64-18 record led to a five-game series loss to the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference semifinals, the Cavs are back in business.
However, they will likely be down one of their starters to begin the year as they look to return to the championship picture.
Max Strus Is Set to Miss Training Camp, First Few Weeks of Season
Sam Amico of Hoops Wire announced that Cavs wing, former Boston Celtic Max Strus suffered a Jones fracture in his left foot while training over the offseason and that the surgery would cause him to miss about three to four months.
Unfortunately for Strus, injuries are not a new thing for him, as he missed 32 games last season for the Cavaliers, but was still able to start in 37 games while averaging 9.4 points per game while playing 25.5 minutes, and 11.7 points per game with the Cavs in the playoffs.
Strus signed a two-way contract with the Bulls right before the 2019-20 season after being cut by the Boston Celtics during the Summer League, and debuted with the team in November 2019, where he would only play two games with the NBA team while averaging 18.2 points with the Windy City Bulls in the G League.
Since then, Strus has slowly sprouted as an underrated star with the Miami Heat and with the Cavaliers, averaging as high as 12.2 points per game in the 2023-24 season.
