Mayweather Promotions’ top prospect Curmel Moton will step in for an eight-round lightweight matchup against Renny Viamonte this Saturday, May 31 from Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
The event is topped by a pair of super middleweight stars in separate attractions, as Interim WBA Super Middleweight Titlist Caleb Plant takes on Mexican knockout artist Armando Reséndiz while undefeated two-division champion Jermall Charlo goes up against veteran contender Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna in a 10-round showdown.
Fighting out of the Mayweather Promotions stable, Curmel Moton (7-0, 6 KOs) grabbed the boxing world’s attention in March 2024 with a dominant eight-round unanimous decision victory over the previously unbeaten Anthony Cuba, going toe-to-toe and controlling the action throughout a thrilling contest.
The 18-year-old was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and now trains and resides in Las Vegas, having most recently scored a third-round TKO over Frank Zaldivar on February 1.
Moton will look to stay undefeated against the 28-year-old Viamonte (4-1-1, 2 KOs), whose last outing saw him earn a unanimous decision over the previously unbeaten Hebreux Francois in February.
Originally from Cuba and now fighting out of Las Vegas, Viamonte has solely faced undefeated opponents throughout his career, with his counterparts combining for a 20-0-2 record before entering the ring.
Action on Prime Video begins at 8pm ET / 5pm PT and features top middleweight contenders Yoenli Feliciano Hernandez and Kyrone “Shut It Down” Davis dueling in a 10-rounder.
Undercard showdowns will see undefeated Filipino contender Carl Martin (25-0, 20 KOs) battle Mexico’s Francisco Portillo (19-12-2, 11 KOs); undefeated super middleweight prospect Daniel Blancas (12-0, 5 KOs) against Baltimore’s Kwame Ritter (11-2, 9 KOs); Phoenix’s super bantamweight prospect Brayan Gonzalez (3-0, 2 KOs) facing fellow unbeaten Osiel Flores (2-0, 2 KOs); plus undefeated prospects John Easter (8-0, 7 KOs) and Cristian Cangelosi (10-0, 5 KOs) are both in action.
