Flames extend Morgan Frost to a two year deal

The Calgary Flames will be bringing back a key player of their center group for the 2025-26 season as they extended Morgan Frost to a two-year, $8.75 million contract. The deal is worth $4.375 million in average annual value. The contract will carry a $4.38 million cap hit and $500,000 up-front signing bonus.

The Flames narrowly missed the playoffs last season with 96 points, with a 41-27-14 record.

Calgary acquired Frost along with Joel Farabee this January from the Philadelphia Flyers. In return, the Flyers received Andrei Kuzmenko, Jakob Pelletier, a 2025 second-round pick, and a 2028 seventh-round pick.

In 32 games with the Flames, Frost recorded three goals, nine assists, and 12 points. He set a new career high in ice time in his 32 games played with the Flames, with an average of 16:37.

Frost was selected by the Flyers with the 27th overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft. Before starting his career in the NHL, he was an OHL First Team All-Star in 2018 and 2019 with the Soo Greyhounds.

Frost has played 310 career games in the NHL and has recorded 54 goals, 94 assists, and 147 points. He has also had two seasons where he has recorded 40-plus points.

Entering next season, Frost is expected to play the third-line center role in the Flames’ lineup behind Nazem Kadri and Mikael Backlund.

Calgary is hopeful that the re-signing of Frost can further contribute to their efforts to contend for a playoff spot in the Western Conference next season.
