Fitness fanatic Charley Hull admits 5k running goal more important than golf

Charley Hull is undoubtedly one of the great characters in women’s golf. She’s known for speaking her mind. So when questioned about her goals for the 2025 season at the PIF Saudi Ladies International press conference, the 28-year-old golfing pin-up told press that the only goal she has set is a fitness one.

“I want to try and get  my 5k run time down to 20 minutes,” Hull revealed. “It’s my main goal for 2025 actually. It’s around 26 minutes at the moment.” 

The English superstar says that she made the decision last year to focus on becoming an ‘athlete’ and trains for her mental health as a hobby because she enjoys it.

“I don’t train for golf,” Hull added. “I have zero interest in training for golf. I don’t want to be just a golfer. I want to be an athlete. I train because it’s good for my mental health and it’s good for me.”

Where is Charley Hull playing golf this week?

Hull is the playing in the PIF Saudi Ladies International event at Riyadh Golf Club this week, captaining a team for four professionals, in the unique fun format that appeals to her aggressive style of play.

“I like to go for greens and take on shots that others may be cautious about,” Hull admitted. “I’m an aggressive player because it makes golf more fun.”

The PIF Saudi Ladies International tournament has a unique, fun format that encourages high drama and low scoring. Teams of four professionals play a better-ball event over 36-holes, competing for a team title, before the top 60 and ties contend in a final day shoot-out to crown an individual champion.
