After rumors of Marc Casado potentially leaving the club, Fermin Lopez has become the player that Barcelona considers for sale. David Ornstein reports that Chelsea will look into signing Lopez this summer, as they are after an attacking midfielder.
The English club has reportedly been in contact with the player’s camp but not with FC Barcelona. If Chelsea decided to go after Fermin Lopez, and the player is open to joining, a deal could be completed at nearly $60 million.
Ferran Martinez from Mundo Deportivo reports that Lopez will decide his future within the next two days. Chelsea is expected to give Lopez an important role in the team.
Fermin Lopez Set to Break Promise?
Rumors of Fermin Lopez potentially leaving Barcelona have been going on this summer, and after the Joan Gamper Trophy Final against Como on August 10. After scoring two goals against Como, Lopez told Barcelona fans that he wouldn’t leave the club this summer.
Fermin Lopez: “Barcelona fans should rest, because I will stay here… I will not leave Barça.”
Fermin Lopez played for Barcelona La Liga opener against Mallorca, and he started as the attacking midfielder. He was substituted off the pitch before the seocnd half and was replaced by Dani Olmo.
Lopez was on the bench against Levante and did not feature any minutes. Mundo Deportivo reports that the player was frustrated with getting minutes, hence why the Chelsea opportunity could be an attractive option.
Ben Jacobs reports that a club outside of England, which will play in the Champions League, is also approaching Barcelona to sign Fermin Lopez this week.
