Each week, the waiver wire can be a stressful experience. The thrill of picking someone up can bring some excitement, but parting ways with players is always nerve-racking.
Balancing between not holding onto a player for too long and giving up on them too soon is a tough battle. Here are some of the players we’d be ok with dropping back onto the waiver wire for Week 3.
FANTASY RANKINGS WEEK 3: QB | RB | WR | TE | D/ST | PK
Players to drop before Week 3 waiver wire
1. Ray Davis, RB, Buffalo Bills
During the offseason, Ray Davis was becoming a fantasy football darling. This was a result of James Cook being an easy player to label as a bust because of the contract dispute.
However, now that we are in season and Cook has been paid, it’s clear that there is no committee. Cook has been every bit excellent, much like last season.
In their close shootout in Week 1, Davis got 2 touches. The only reason he got 9 in Week 2 was because the Bills were blowing out the New York Jets.
2. Isiah Pacheco, RB, Kansas City Chiefs
This can be said about both of the Chiefs’ running backs, but Isiah Pacheco is more heavily rostered. Honestly, there is no one you should want on the Chiefs for fantasy football besides Patrick Mahomes.
Mahomes has rushed for more yards this season than both Pacheco and Kareem Hunt combined. It’s not even by a little bit either, it’s. by 29 yards. It’s clear the Chiefs don’t believe in their run game, nor do the game scripts call for it.
Isiah Pacheco fantasy points scored in 7 games since coming back from a fractured fibula:

It feels like a wasted roster spot on someone you’ll never feel confident in trusting. Pacheco has a low floor and a low ceiling; there is no upside.
3. Marvin Mims Jr., WR, Denver Broncos
Coming into this season, Marvin Mims was an interesting player in an explosive Broncos offense. However, it’s become clear that he is not the WR2 in this offense.
In shocking fashion, Troy Franklin has been targeted more times than Courtland Sutton. Franklin is sitting at 15 targets, Sutton is at 13, but then Mims is at just 6 targets through two games. Mims was even out-targeted by Pat Bryant in Week 2.
Managers might look at Mims’ last performance and have some hesitation. But rest assured, if Mims did not haul in that touchdown, he would’ve had a much worse day.

4. Kaleb Johnson, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers
There are going to be a lot of managers who keep Kaleb Johnson, and that’s ok. But unfortunately, it’s just not going to happen this season.
Johnson, through two weeks, has been given just two rushing attempts for -1 yards. We knew that Jaylen Warren was going to be the RB1 in this Steelers offense. The surprise is that Kenneth Gainwell is the clear RB2.
Johnson also made a horrendous mistake in Week 2 that gave the Seahawks a touchdown.
Oh no. #Steelers rookie RB Kaleb Johnson appeared unaware of the new kickoff rules — and the #Seahawks took full advantage.

If you drafted Johnson, you paid a high price for him. It’s understandable if you aren’t ready to give him up just yet. However, there are even options on the waiver wire who are getting more touches than Johnson is with the Steelers.
5. Jerome Ford, RB, Cleveland Browns
While Jerome Ford had a decent fantasy output with 135 all-purpose yards, the writing is on the wall. Dylan Sampson, through two games, has looked immensely better than Ford.
On top of this, Quinshon Judkins has officially arrived in the Browns’ backfield. Undeniably, Judkins looks like the best running back on the team. Samson has looked too good to completely negate his role. Therefore, Ford is going to see his already low rushing attempts drop even further.
This won’t be a hard top; however, Ford was rostered decently high due to Judkins’ situation.
