The time is now for the Atlanta Falcons. After years of struggling to post a winning season and missing the playoffs, the team is finally emerging from its rebuilding phase. Their young stars are beginning to make names for themselves, and most importantly, there’s more buzz around the Falcons than there has been in quite some time.
Much of this hype centers around their exciting young quarterback, Michael Penix Jr., who many hope will become the franchise cornerstone. Penix, now in his second year, has the Falcons organization—and the NFL world—buzzing with anticipation.
“It’s a bit surprising that the Falcons have five prime-time games this season,” Jordan Dajani wrote. “I believe that’s because of the excitement surrounding Michael Penix Jr.”
While much of the offseason chatter has focused on Kirk Cousins and potential trade scenarios, another Falcon could also be on the move. Running back Tyler Allgeier, who has seen a reduced role since his rookie season, may be on the trade block.
“The Falcons should be fishing for a Day 2 draft pick from a team that needs a lead back. They would have earned a profit on Allgeier, and they’d build up next year’s draft capital after trading away their 2026 first-round pick to move up for edge-rusher James Pearce Jr,” Brent Sobleski wrote.
Though Allgeier is no longer the primary option in Atlanta, he has the potential to be the lead back on several other teams thanks to his physical, hard-nosed running style.

“With Bijan Robinson getting the majority of the workload, it’s reasonable to assume that the Falcons could move Allgeier before losing him after 2025 as a free agent. could be the top back on the free agent market after next season,” Scott Kennedy wrote.
Allgeier has already proven his value with a 1,000-yard rushing season under his belt. The Falcons are likely to try and get something in return for him before he hits free agency and secures a big contract elsewhere.
