The Atlanta Falcons signed a returning player to a new one-year contract in April.
Three months later, he’s gone.
The Falcons released Kevin King on Thursday as part of a bundle of training camp roster moves.
King was with Atlanta last season. He played in 15 games, with one start. He totaled 10 tackles, two pass breakups and a fumble recovery. More than two-thirds of King’s snaps in 2024 came on special teams.
Originally, King was a second-round pick by the Packers in 2017. He has played 66 NFL games, totaling 200 tackles and seven interceptions.

King spent his first five seasons with the Packers. He was out of the NFL in 2022, then tore his Achilles and missed the 2023 season.
The 2024 campaign was his comeback from that brutal injury, but if he wants to keep playing now, it’ll have to be somewhere other than Atlanta.
King turned 30 in May. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound corner is a big man for his position, so a team in need of a tackling defensive back and special teams player may give him a look.
