Falcons’ Bijan Robinson believes Michael Penix is ready to lead

The Atlanta Falcons are entering a crucial season under coach Raheem Morris, with the spotlight on second-year quarterback Michael Penix. Not only is he replacing veteran Kirk Cousins this year, but the organization’s opportunity to win is now.

The NFC South is more open than ever, especially with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers dealing with injuries, including star receiver Chris Godwin, who is likely not ready for week 1. The New Orleans Saints are in a rebuilding phase under first-year coach Kellen Moore, and the Carolina Panthers remain a wildcard.

Still, despite all these questions, there’s one true believer in Penix. That’s star running back Bijan Robinson, who appeared on ESPN to speak about his confidence in the former Washington Husky signal caller as he gets ready for the upcoming season.

“He’s super intelligent and people sleep on his athleticism,” Robinson said. “He’s a very athletic quarterback. He can move out the pocket, he can run. Our confidence is super high.”

Robinson’s endorsement matters, especially as one of the league’s most dynamic young playmakers.

His words reflect a locker room that seems fully invested in Penix’s growth and leadership. With a strong supporting cast around him, Atlanta is betting on his upside to shine through.

Penix played in just five games as a rookie, showing flashes but still searching for the consistency he displayed at Washington. The Falcons believe that with more reps and a full offseason under Morris, those growing pains could quickly turn into progress.

For Atlanta, Robinson’s belief carries weight — and if Penix lives up to that confidence, the Falcons won’t just be chasing the division crown, they’ll be chasing January football.
