Former New York Knick, and current Toronto Raptor RJ Barrett could be on the move once again.
Per NBA insider Jake Fischer, Barrett is well aware of his involvement in future trade scenarios for the Raptors.
Of course, Barrett was sent to the Raptors from the Knicks before the 2023-24 trade deadline. In exchange, the Knicks received OG Anunoby and Precious Achiwua. In particular, Anunoby’s arrival helped launch the Knicks into legitimate title contenders in the NBA.
Barrett was drafted by the Knicks with the third overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, and while he had some good moments with the Knicks, he never realized his full potential. In five seasons with the Knicks, Barrett averaged 18.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, shooting just 42 percent from the field, and 34 percent from three-point range.
Barrett has improved drastically since being traded to the Raptors
Since landing with his hometown team, Barrett has taken his game to another level. Since his arrival in Toronto, he is averaging 21.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game while shooting 50 percent from the field and 36 percent from beyond the arc. This past season, he averaged 21.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game in 58 appearances.
Now, with the Raptors potentially facing yet another rebuild, Barrett could be on the move once again. At 25-years-old, Barrett should be entering the prime years of his NBA career, and should draw plenty of attention across the league.
