Ex-Bulls starter signs contract with Greek team to continue basketball career

There are some really, really good basketball players starring overseas.

Former Bulls and Knicks guard Jerian Grant is one of them.

He’s continued his hoops career long after leaving the NBA, and he has a new contract with Panathinaikos in Greece to keep it rolling through the 2027-28 season.

Grant, who was a college stud at Notre Dame, has been with the Greek powerhouse for two seasons already. He’s averaged about eight points and 3.5 assists per game in his two campaigns there.

Prior to this stop, Grant also played for teams in Turkey and Italy.

He last played in the NBA in 2019-20 for the Wizards after a season with the Magic.

He began his pro career with the Knicks, then had his best two seasons with the Bulls.

As a 25-year old, Grant started 26 games for Chicago in 2017-18 and averaged career-highs in points (8.4), rebounds (2.3), assists (4.6) and steals (0.9).

He could never break through as a full-time starter, but he started about a third of his Bulls games over the two seasons.

Grant has proven that it’s a feasible path to head overseas and be a strong hooper over there. With Panathinaikos continuing to qualify for the EuroLeague, Grant will continue getting to play on the second-strongest basketball stage on the planet.
