European giants lead the race to sign Chelsea star

While most people are fixated on the incredible number of incomings taking place at Chelsea this summer, it is also important to keep an eye on the possible departures, as a significant number of players are set to leave as well.

One first-team player in particular has been linked with a move away throughout the window, and now a surprise European giant has emerged as the frontrunners to sign him.

Nicolas Jackson has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge following the recent arrivals of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap and has been linked with a move away from the club since the start of the window.

The Senegalese international reportedly prefers staying in the Premier League and has been linked to both Newcastle United and Manchester United.

While the Red Devils are yet to make a formal approach for Jackson, there is a difference in valuation for the player between Newcastle and Chelsea.

Meanwhile, the player has reportedly rejected a move to Italy by turning down offers from Napoli and AC Milan.

According to CaughtOffside, Spanish giants Barcelona are leading the race to sign Chelsea frontman Nicolas Jackson.

It has been revealed that the Catalan giants have identified the 24-year-old as the ideal support for legendary striker Robert Lewandowski, 36, at the Camp Nou.

The report adds that Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director, is expected to ‘initiate talks’ with Chelsea for Jackson over a one-year loan with an option to buy.

Though Jackson is reported to prefer a move to a Premier League club, it remains to be seen if the allure of Barcelona changes his mind.
