Last season, the 6-foot-6 wing joined Olympiacos after his run with the Knicks fizzled out and he was dealt to the Detroit Pistons at the trade deadline to wrap up his deal.
“I had contacts with some contenders during the summer, before the Olympics,” Fournier told gathered journalists in 2024 upon signing with Olympiacos, per Eurohoops. “I had an offer from the [rebuilding] Wizards, but that wasn’t something I wanted for my career right now. I came to Olympiacos to experience strong emotions, play in big games, and be part of a special project. This was the opportunity at the right time and by far the best option for me.”
During his debut run with the Greek squad in 2024-25, the 32-year-old was named to the All-EuroLeague Second Team and the All-Greek League Team.
Fournier also led Olympiacos to claim the Greek Super Cup and a Greek League championship.
Across 37 EuroLeague contests, Fournier notched averages of 16.1 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 2.6 assists. In 20 Greek League bouts, Fournier averaged 9.4 points and 2.3 assists.
“Olympiacos welcomed me like family,” Fournier said in a team presser. “This is not a new chapter, it is the continuation of something strong. I couldn’t be happier to be part of this sacred club for another three seasons,” he said shortly after signing his new contract.”
Across a 12-year NBA career, Fournier suited up for the Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic, Boston Celtics, Knicks and Pistons. He kicked off his run with New York as a starter for then-coach Tom Thibodeau in 2021-22.
In 80 health games during that lottery-bound season, Fournier averaged 14.1 points on .417/.389/.708 shooting splits, 2.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steals a night. The next season, he eventually fell out of favor with Thibodeau thanks to his defensive issues. New York managed to trade him to Detroit after just three games in 2023-24, but seemed to have lost his spark as a reserve for a rebuilding Pistons club.
