The Miami Dolphins appear to have their first injury of the preseason Week 2 game against the Detroit Lions.
The injured player is third-year cornerback Ethan Bonner, who sustained the injury in the first quarter of the game against the Lions on Saturday afternoon.
Here’s what we know about Bonner’s injury thus far.

END OF UPDATE
According to David Furones of the Sun Sentinel, Bonner took a trip to the medical tent on the sideline after leaving the field with his injury.
Omar Kelly of the Miami Herald reports that it looks to be a hamstring injury for Bonner. Unfortunately, that’s all we have at this time and the severity is unknown.
Check back later, as we’ll update this page when more information becomes available.
Bonner first entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2023.
After spending most of the season on Miami’s practice squad, he managed to earn a roster spot in 2024.
“He’s a smart player, very competitive, and we’ve had a number of teams try to trade for him in the offseason and even last year. Very excited for his opportunity, and he’s taken advantage of it every time he’s had [one],” general manager Chris Grier said of Bonner.
Looking ahead to 2025, Bonner, who got the start on Saturday, is once again expected to make the roster, and he may even be able to secure a starting spot considering the shaky situation the Dolphins have at cornerback.
“I want to start and I want to play,” Bonner said recently. “If it’s here or somewhere else, I want to be on the field. I want to be in Miami.”
The Dolphins already have a precarious situation at cornerback, so Bonner’s status remains one to monitor.
