Kyle Pitts is entering the final year of his contract with the Atlanta Falcons, but there’s growing speculation he might not even be on the roster by the time the season kicks off. A former first-round draft pick, Pitts has shown flashes of elite potential but has struggled with consistency during his time in Atlanta. Recently, his name has surfaced in trade discussions, with the Falcons reportedly setting the asking price at a Day 2 draft pick.
“Multiple teams have reached out to the Falcons about the availability of TE Kyle Pitts.” While Schultz notes that “nothing is imminent” and Atlanta would still prefer to keep him, it would reportedly take “at least a Day 2 pick to even spark serious talks,” NFL Insider Jordan Schultz wrote.
Although neither side is actively pushing for a trade, there’s a growing sense that the right offer could lead to a deal. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler believes another factor could be Pitts’ desire to play in a more dynamic offense.
“I don’t think it’s a situation where [the Falcons] are aggressively shopping [Pitts],” Fowler said Saturday on SportsCenter. “But it appears, talking to some other teams, they think Atlanta is at least open to the possibility and Pitts might be as well. I’m told he loves Atlanta, this is not a situation where he’s requesting a trade, but if he has a chance to go to maybe a better offense where he’s more featured.”
Pitts has yet to participate in OTAs, which was initially unexplained by head coach Raheem Morris. On Tuesday, Adam Schefter revealed the reason for his absence.
“While there has been speculation about his future in Atlanta, Falcons TE Kyle Pitts hasn’t been practicing at OTAs due to a strained muscle in his foot, per source,” Schefter wrote.

The Falcons are taking a cautious approach with their tight end. With the season still months away, the team is wisely avoiding the risk of aggravating the injury further during offseason workouts.
