ESPN Sunday Night Baseball schedule 2025: Dates, times and teams to watch every prime time MLB broadcast

Opening Day was a home run. Players made history, teams went to extra innings and, of course, Shohei Ohtani hit a solo shot.

As initial series continue, there will be attention on 2025’s first Sunday Night Baseball broadcast. ESPN showcases dozens of MLB games each year, and this year the total is set at 25 for Sunday Night’s coverage.

The first matchup will be between two NL contenders in the Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres. The Padres will host, as this is the fourth and final game of their opening series against Atlanta.

San Diego enters the year essentially fighting for a wild-card spot already. Since the team shares a division with the Dodgers, there’s an unlikely chance the Padres come out as NL West winners. That said, the team is still built for the playoffs.

Fernando Tatis Jr. leads the team, but it’s a well-rounded squad with Manny Machado, Xander Bogaerts and Luis Arráez in the lineup. Pitchers Michael King, Dylan Cease and Yu Darvish make for a solid rotation, and the bullpen remains strong.

The Braves enter the year with high expectations again, but they aren’t at full strength. Ronald Acuna is once again recovering from injury, so he likely won’t debut until May. The rest of the lineup is strong, however, with Matt Olson, Ozzie Albies, Austin Riley and offseason addition Jurickson Profar.

Chris Sale leads the rotation after winning the Cy Young award last season. Spencer Strider is also making his way back from elbow surgery to form a strong 1-2 punch.

This potential playoff matchup kicks off ESPN’s 2025 Sunday Night Baseball coverage. Here’s how to watch and this year’s schedule.
