The Buffalo Bills haven’t made many aggressive moves this offseason. The biggest swing the Bills took was signing Joey Bosa to a one-year deal. Instead, the Bills have brought back several former players.
Jordan Phillips, Tre’Davious White, and Jordan Poyer were all brought back to Buffalo, with Phillips and Poyer being put on the practice squad. The Bills also signed Dane Jackson, but released him after a poor preseason. With that in mind, ESPN’s Dan Graziano believes the Bills will be making a splash trade sooner than later.
“Buffalo feels great about its offense, which outscored every team in the NFL last year except the Lions,” Graziano writes. “But it’s still putting things together on the defensive side of the ball, where the Bills finished in the bottom half of the league last season with 5.5 yards allowed per play. The safety position has been a particularly thorny question mark, especially considering how important that position is in coach Sean McDermott’s defense. Don’t be shocked if the front office looks to help them out here in the coming weeks or months with a strategic addition or two.”
The Bills should get aggressive to acquire a proven defensive star, as they have a severe lack of those kinds of players. Even if a trade doesn’t come until the trade deadline, Buffalo needs to make a splash.
