Chelsea are on a mission to bolster their overall squad in the ongoing transfer window.
After signing Liam Delap from Ipswich Town earlier this month, the Blues have now turned their attention to Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund.
But if reports are to be believed, Enzo Maresca is keen to improve his attack and defence.
One centre-back whom Chelsea could sign during this transfer window is Sporting Lisbon’s Ousmane Diomande.
Chelsea have shown interest in Diomande before, and the 21-year-old still appears to be on the club’s radar.
According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea are still keen on Diomande, with Enzo Maresca believing that he is one of the best additions the Blues can make to improve their defence.

Diomande was a key player for Sporting last season, making 46 appearances in all competitions.
Though Sporting would be keen to keep hold of him, they may be forced to let him leave if Chelsea come calling.
Chelsea face competition from Premier League rivals for Diomande
While Chelsea may hold an interest in Diomande, they might have to fight off interest from one of their Premier League rivals, Crystal Palace.
A report from BBC Sport claims that Crystal Palace are in talks with Sporting over a deal for Diomande.
Given that both Chelsea and Crystal Palace come with the promise of playing European football next season, it may come down to the player’s ambition.
