After securing a deal for England U21 international Liam Delap from Ipswich Town in the mini transfer window earlier this month, Chelsea are set to get back to business as the transfer window resumes for the rest of the summer.
The Blues are battling to seal a deal for Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund, after reportedly matching the German side’s valuation of the player, but they have been unable to agree on the structure of the deal.
However, Enzo Maresca has backed the club to return to the market and sign a new winger before the start of preseason training in July.
Chances are that Chelsea will return to the negotiation table for Gittens and try to agree a deal for him with Dortmund.
The English player is keen on a move to Stamford Bridge and Chelsea will be looking to take advantage of that, if they can complete the finalities of an agreement.
Maresca has effectively confirmed Chelsea’s plan to sign a new winger in his press conference ahead of their FIFA Club World Cup opener against Los Angeles.

“When the transfer window is back open, for sure, we can do something.”
