Edmonton Oilers acquire Connor Ingram from Utah

The Edmonton Oilers have struck a deal to bring in some much needed goaltender depth ahead of the 2025-26 season.

It was announced on Wednesday that the team had acquired Utah Mammoth goaltender Connor Ingram in exchange for future considerations, with the Mammoth retaining $800,000 of salary in the trade.

He will report to Bakersfield of the AHL in the meantime.

It is unknown at the current time what those considerations could be, and as we saw with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Dakota Joshua trade from years back, a consideration may not be finalized for quite some time.

Ingram had a rough season with the Mammoth starting only 22 games and posting a 9-8-4 record with a 3.27 GAA and .882 SV%. For his career he owns a 39-44-15 record with a 3.14 GAA and .902 SV% with time spent in Nashville, Arizona, and subsequently Utah.

The goaltender left the team earlier this offseason after his mother tragically passed away, and didn’t suit up this preseason. Although he was recently cleared to return, GM Bill Armstrong wanted to make sure that Ingram got himself situated somewhere he could make a difference and mentioned his health and well-being was first and foremost:

“We’re excited for him and his path to recovery, that’s the biggest thing. He will either get a chance to play for another NHL team or he will go to the American Hockey League and resume his play. But at the end of the day, he will be playing and that’s what we’re so excited for.”

It was a class act from Armstrong to realize that Ingram needed a fresh start somewhere else to continue his career and he was more than comfortable with his current goaltending structure that he could get a deal done.

Edmonton has a few question marks with Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard in net, meanwhile the Condors would primarily be looking at Matt Tomkins to lead the way, as the rest of their pipeline is very raw and Ingram will be more than capable of splitting duties with him.

So it’s not the flashiest deal on the planet, but it was one that had the best of intentions in mind.
